The only issue I have with NG+ is that, if you have managed to get Boris and/or the socket enchanter in your first run, it's a shame to lose them when the world is re-rolled for NG+. I think the feeling of being tired of the story after killing the Netherlord was because I so often was playing hardcore and/or elite characters, and I'm definitely tired at the end of doing those. Since you can intersperse your storyline play with mapworks play, it's still a lot of fun. I recently decided to give it a try again after a very long time (many years) not doing it, and I find it has a great deal more added instances and dungeons and other unique things than I remembered when I wrote my first comments. I am going to reverse myself on my opinion of NG+.

I just don't do it often, because after leveling a character to the last boss, I'm a little tired of the storyline and want to do something different for a while - like the maps, and the mods I'm playing these days add a LOT of interesting maps, so I'm quite entertained with the mapworks. There are definitely some perks to playing it. It's not that it's a horrible choice to make. They did try to make the experience of NG+ a little different. You are also correct that there are a few other extra dungeons scattered around in NG+. And experimenting with different mods truly makes it an endless exploration for me. I've leveled many dozens of characters over the years. This game has so much variety and the classes are different enough that I can't see how anyone can just play one character and be done with it. WIth shared stash, you can use first character to enchant second character's gear and second character to farm advanced gear for first one. Originally posted by Neit:If I were you I would consider multiple characters, one of which could just stick around the first playthrough with all the enchanters available, while other might be in NG+ with easier access to better gear. I also checked on some Act I character on NG+ I have, and Mapworks was accessible from first Town. I just checked the TT to see if I didn't overestimate the drop and I have to admit, I did a little bit, but in one run, I got around 20 uniques (including some Netherrealm weapons and lvl 99/105 set items), some skulls, gems and of course lot of trash. There are other maps hidden around in NG+, that do not spawn on first playthrough. Well, there are actually multiple dungeons that are available only on NG+ modes, Tarroch's Tomb is just by far the most notable one as it's the ultimate gear farm (and the ultimate challenge) in the game. But that was a long time ago - maybe thay patched it since then? It's interesting that the game played NG+ so different for you than for me. Also, I wasn't able to access the Mapworks in NG+ until I finished the storyline again. Originally posted by HiFive:I never got dozens of uniques from Tarroch's Tomb. I never got dozens of uniques from Tarroch's Tomb.

PS: Even after moving to NG+, you can access Mapworks right from start, so that can be used to your advantage. It's a shame you can't go back from NG+, but I still find it preferable to just do random maps and having no endgame challenge, basically doing TT on Elite is the ultimate challenge your character can pass. Well I am not sure I expected anything else, almost everything (except for few enemy-specific items) works this way.ĭifference is, that while during random map run (I usually get ones with increased drop chance) you might get 1 or 2 orange rarity item per map, after dealing with Tarroch's Tomb you get dozens of them. Originally posted by HiFive:You would think Tarroch's Tomb would drop really great stuff after all that hard work, but it's just the normal RNG of loot, as far as I've ever been able to tell.
